Gulet Types

Gulet is traditional Turkish wooden ,two masted boat , which was used as a fishing boat around half century ago.The consructions of gulets started in Bodrum area than for groving up market contructions also made in Bozburun , Marmaris , Fethiye and Ýstanbul .Gulet constructions are made with special handworks and carpenters prefer to use lastings woods.

These lastings woods are teak, maun and Iroko.

Teak : Teak tree grows in Muson and its durable for heavy weather conditions.The teak is valuable wood , its expensive and generally imported to Turkey , boat builders use the teak on the deck of boat , thecolur of the teak seems grey but it doesn’t mean that its old ,on the contrary the colour shows the quality of product

Iroko : Iroko is more expensive than both teak and mahogany.Its generally growing up in Africa.Iroko is a lasitng wood and used in exrterior and deck of gulets on contructions.We can see the the iroko in deluxe gulets.
